Program and commission a dental practice security and access control system
You are a Security and Communications Technician.
What has happened
Bellarine Dental Group's new consulting rooms at Ocean Grove, job J-26-1166, have an intruder alarm with twelve detectors, access control on four doors and structured data cabling that has already been tested and passed. The access control readers arrive on Friday and commissioning is scheduled for the following week. The practice manager has supplied a schedule of staff, their access groups and the hours the doors must be unlocked, and wants the alarm to arm automatically after the last staff member leaves. Patient records are stored on site so the customer is sensitive about who can enter after hours. The customer also wants a handover session for the reception team.
Deliverables
- Job safety analysis for the commissioning work
- Configuration record of zones, users, access groups and schedules
- Commissioning sheet with test results for every device

Evidence guide
The configuration record must match the customer's schedule exactly and be complete enough for another technician to support the system. Look for every device tested and recorded, faults documented with their fix, and a quick guide written in plain language for non-technical staff. The student should show awareness of the customer's privacy concern in how access groups and audit trails are set up.
